Here is why -
A group called itself “Ayeyarwady Myanaung Nationalist Network” posted on the Facebook recently messages, which are critical to call prayer (Adhan) from mosques in Myanaung Town in Ayeyarwady Region.
The group posted the comments on its Facebook page on 10 June.
Myangaung town has two mosques, one each for its eastern and western wards, and these mosques have been using loudhailers for saying Adhan from past many years, a local resident said.
A preacher at one mosque Maulana Farooq said there has been no objection for using loudhailers.
“Near the eastern ward mosque, there are about 80 Muslim households , as for the western ward we have more than 200 Muslim households, we have been using loudhailers to say Adhan from past one decade, there was no problem in the past, I have not read any critical comment on that on the Facebook as well,” he said.
The Facebook page of Kyaw Phone Myint (Rakhita Thakhin Phone Myint) has carried a post saying Adhan from the mosques are causing alarm to the students at the schools as well as the patients in the hospital. He called the authorities to take action to stop or otherwise Buddhist will do reprisal by spreading noise.
A local resident Mohamed Ali said on 12 June that neither the members of Buddhist religion in town has criticized the incitement by Kyaw Phone Myint nor the General Administration Department has warned him to stop his action.
