Here is why -
Authorities in Mandalay arrested Zaw Zaw Latt and Ma Pwint Phyu Latt on 14th July 2015. They have been charged with section 17 (1) for communicating with illegal organizations and section 13 (1) for crossing the border illegally. Zaw Zaw Latt and Ma Pyint Phyu Latt visited KIA administered cities in Kachin in June 2013 and the pair took pictures with a member of KIA while holding the a rifle. The pair uploaded the picture on their Facebook account. The picture be was the reason for their arrest. In April they visited India Mizoram and were accused that they had crossed the border illegally. On 30th July, Ko Win Zaw Bo was also arrested and the court issued arrest warrants for four Buddhist monks for accompanying the pair and crossing the border illegally. Zaw Zaw Latt and Ma Pyint Phyu Latt have been working tirelessly for interfaith peace. Their work is effective because of reaching the grassroots and they become viewed as an obstacle for state backed Ma Ba Tha. Authorities have been pressured by Ma Ba Tha to arrest them and the rumours of their arrest were leak out before they were detained.
