This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
A pagoda was built inside an Anglican Church in Kayin State on 23 April and another one was built nearby the previous pagoda on 4 May. The pagodas were built in Shinma Ku church in Hline Bwe Township and it was done at an instruction by Myine Gyi Ngu Monk. On 3 May about 400 people led by Myine Gyi Ngu monk came to the church in Kyun Taw village to prepare ground to build buildings near the two pagodas. On 2 May villagers from Kyun Taw and Kwi Lay villages came to the church and build a congregation hall and a new pagoda in about 100 yard far from the pagoda, which was built earlier. According to local resident, the Buddhist religious flags are still flying inside the church, which indicate that more pagodas were likely to be built there. In a similar incident, a pagoda was built inside the compound of Marakaz Mosque situated on Bo Gyoke road in Shwe Gon village on 25 April. A number Buddha statues were buried earlier in the areas where the pagoda was built. The Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko together with the Chief Minister of Kayin State Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint tried to meet Myine Gyi Ngu monk on 9 May, but the meeting did not take place, as the monk was not available. The two officials went to the Kun Taw Church and Shwe Gun mosque compound to see the pagodas built inside the two religious sites. The Minister Thura U Aung Ko said the land where pagodas were built is a disputed area. However, Reverend Saw Stylo the head of Hpa- An diocese has contradicted the Minister’s claim “construction of this church started in 1962 and it was completed on 12 August 1963. The township land registration department recognized the land as a religious site and a grant was issued with the Church’s name. We have no disputed as the minister has said”. He said the total land area for the Church land is 2.53 acres and 1acre was lost in building of the pagodas.
