More bus lines linked to Bengali travel suspended

In the aftermath of the violence incidents in Maungtaw the numbers of bus lines suspended in connection with the travel of Rohingya has increased. They were suspended at localized orders. The Mon Region government has issued a notification to all bus lines not to allow Bengalis to travel on their busses and anyone who infringe the order would be face termination of the bus line and sacking of the drivers and conductors. The notification was issued on 18 November, said the State Bus line Supervision Committee. Similarly, the Ayeyarwady Region police said as the region share maritime border with Rakhine State and it is possible that they would come to the region be sea and use bus to travel to Yangon and other parts of Myanmar. It said any bus line, which allow Bengalis to travel, would face legal actions. The authorities imposed tighter regulations on the bus lines across the country. Two bus lines in Taninthayi Region were suspended after the two Bengali men were arrested for on 23 October. Reference: Daily Eleven 12 November 2016 (page 24)
