This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
This report is true. The paramount chief and three others including the driver were ambushed at 7 miles on the Maridi road when they were heading to Logo Boma of Yei town payam for a dialogue between the military and civilians organised by an organisation known as HONAD. Among the abducted were the chief, the driver, one lady and a gentleman. The driver and the gentleman were released that same day while the lady was released the following day and the paramount chief is still under custody as at this time. The abductors initially asked for a ransom of $16,000 but the government says they have no mandate to pay. However, the abductors have made a new ransom demand of $500; we have no further information about whether it will be paid or not. Finally, today (10th July), the paramount chief of Yei has been released from the ends of Morobo county and is currently receiving treatment from Morobo hospital. He was abducted from Maridi road and released from Morobo, a great distance to cover on foot especially for an elderly person like him. All in all, we are grateful for his release.
