This report is Confirmed true and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
A monk who joined Saffron Revolution in 2007 has criticized a social media post by a fellow monk U Wirathu posted on 26 February in which he praised the killing of U Ko Ni, a legal adviser of the National League for Democracy (NLD). U Winita said the post on social media in which U Wirathu said he was in gratitude to the killers of U Ko Ni was in breach of principles of the monks. U Sandar Thiti, who also involved in the 2007 revolution, also said praising of a killer was not a way of Buddhist and action should be taken against anyone who involve in act of terror. A monk should not be agree with any kind of killing, by doing so will be breach of teaching of Lord Buddha. “It is like abatement to the crime, it is against the guiding principles of monks. But I assume Wirthu made the comment based on personal hatred and frustration,” said Ashin U Ba Tha (Nagar) who is a member of All Myanmar Saffron Monks network. In his reaction to the social media post by U Wirathu, the Patron of the NLD U Tin Oo said he was saddened to hear such a comment from a person who is wearing robe according to the teaching of Lord Buddha. U Tin Oo was speaking at a public rally for by-elections on 4 March. U Wirathu wrote in his 26 February 26 that, “In this event all of my apprehension for the future of Myanmar’s religion has disappeared. I am in gratitude to Kyi Lin, so as to Aung Win Zaw also to Aung Win Khaing and Zeyar Phyo. I am sympathetic towards their families. Ref : 7day Daily , Mar 5, 2017 / News Watch- Mar 3 , 2017
