Here is why -
65 youths and 7 officials from a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts in Northern Shan State were arrested with the allegation of involvement in drug trade, Ko Sai Chit Ngwe, an official at the centre said.
They were arrested by soldiers from the military regiment no 88 on 20 March and they will be produced in the court on 22 March.
The rehabilitation centre, situated on the bank of Shwe Li River near Muse Township, has been helping drug addicts from past 16 years. The centre has not receive any government funding, it is run on financial contribution by the local community.
According to residents of Muse the centre helping for rebuilding character of the drug addicts.
Ko Sai Chit Ngwe said only youth who want to get rid of drug habit come to the centre and those who arrested are innocent. He called for their immediate release.
