Here is why -
The Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture, Thura U Aung Ko said the majority of the followers of Islamic faith in Myanmar are not full citizen.
He made the comment during an interview with Voice of America Radio station on 2 April.
“During the reign of the previous military government Buddhist religion got excessive support. But there were no persecution against the members of minority religions like Christianity, followers of Islamic faith many of whom are not full citizen, Hindu as well as other smaller regions. I believed that way. But Buddhist religion got extra support from the government, so the minority ethnic groups and people with not full citizenship has got wrong impression on the government,” Thura U Aung Ko reportedly said in the interview.
