Here is why -
U Zaw Lin wrote on his Facebook page on 19 January that a group of Muslims gathered for mass prayers on every Friday in a compound own by a Muslim in Myawaddy Town in Kayin State.
After the news was posted, the chair of the township municipal department U Than Shwe, ward administrator U Kyaw Myint along with the two two people went to look the home at no 3 ward Mhan Ba Khine Road and they did not find anything like what was mentioned in U Zaw Lay’s post.
The inspection group found out that the owner of the house U Hla Shwe was ill and he was not at the home, he was on a travel. There was no evidence of gathering of people or building of mosque as claimed in the post.
Another Facebook user Thetoo Naing in a post warned U Zaw Lay not to write fake news, as it could create misunderstanding among the people and could trigger violence.
