A Muslim man accused of murder and his family as well as his lawyer are facing intimidation and restrictions, a family source said. 28 year old Arsi Mullah A.k.a Ko Khin Maung Win was accused of murder of a taxi driver, a Buddhist, after the two involved in a brawl over dispute over car parking space. Ko Khin Maung Win run a betel nut roll shop at No 71 ward in South Dagon Township. The murder of taxi driver Nay Lin Aung took placed in front of the shop on 24 October last year. An argument broke out between the two men after Ko Khin Maung Win asked Nay Linn Aung not to park his taxi in front of his shop. Nay Lin Aung was stabbed to death in a brawl between the two. Khin Maung Win is facing murder charge in Yangon Eastern District Court filed under the section 302. A family member of Khin Maung Win said they are facing intimidation, assault, insults inside the court on their religion and race by the monks from the Protection of Race and Religion Committee (MaBaTha). It was not the first time Khin Maung Win and Nay Lin Aung involved in dispute over car parking, the two also involved in argument over the parking space. The eldest sister of Khin Maung Win said he was ready to accept punishment under the law for the crime he has committed, but he did not want his family to go through abuse for their religious belief. At least 32 monks and residents of the ward always attend the weekly court hearing and the family feel unsafe to live in the ward. The family is also facing intimidation from MaBaTha at their home. The lawyer for Ko Khin Maung Win, a retired police officer U Maung Maung Win said defence witness he has proposed were rejected as they are Muslims. He said he faced physical abuse by MaBaTha monks on 25 January at the entrance of the court.
