A statement issued by a pro-Buddhist group Ma Ba Tha, Myanmar acronym for the Association of the Protection of Race and Religion on 24 October criticized the government’s move to ease requirement to register for overnight stay for visitors as well as closing down of the check points on some of the highways in Myanmar. The statement said it has become daily occurrence of the arrest of Bengali who entered into Myanmar illegally, after the government put in placed the two measures. Ma Ba Tha statement said the authorities have step up the arrest of Bengali following 9 October attacks on the outposts of Myanmar security force in Maungtaw. It said there must be scores of people hiding inside the country. The statement also called the government to follow examples of the other countries, where the national security has become priority.
