Here is why -
ALTHOUGH the members of the Rohingya community who are living in Myanmar from a long period of time, they need permission like visa for internal travel, but Chinese nationals are allow to come into Phakhant in Kachin State without any restrictions.
Although the Ministry of Immigration and Manpower and the Department of Immigration and National Registration could take actions against the illegal Chinese visitors under section 13 (a) of Immigration act, but on a contrary they are given protection by the local authorities.
According to the residents of Phakhant, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of the Union Government has issued order to prohibit the travel of Chinese in Phakant, but there are many Chinese living in the jade mining town in Kachin State illegally.
Under the article 13(1) of the Immigration Act any foreigner living in restricted areas is punishable with minimum six month imprisonment to up five years jail or cash penalty or both.
