A pro Buddhist group Ziwita Dhana in Panta Naw Township in Ayeyarwady Region has objected to a religious practice by Muslims to donate meat during Eid-ul- Adha. A statement issued on 17 June by Ziwita Dhana group for saving the lives of cows and buffaloes, said the group totally object to the killing of animals during Muslims’ Eid festival. In Panta Naw Township transport of cow and meat from one village to another is banned, and whoever found to be carrying them are put on trial. The Panta Naw Township Ziwita Dhana cow and buffaloes saving committee has been granted butcher licenses starting from 2013-2014 fiscal year and by 2016-2017 they are granted all 4 licenses allotted to the town. In Panta Naw there are 11 Mosques and 280 Muslim households and a total of 3000 Muslims live. The Ziwita Dhana group was emerged in 2013 and since then they are denying the rights of Muslims to donate meat during the Eid, a trustee of the mosque said. Panta Naw Ziwita Dhana has confiscated many cows on the charges of trespassing. According to a local Muslim they stop cars and search at their will. Reference: Source of BHRN
