As per an update on the official website of the Parliament, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Leader of the House and the Chairman of the Select Committee of Parliament to Identify Appropriate Reforms of the Election Laws and the Electoral System and to Recommend Necessary Amendments had stated on 22nd September that the general opinion of the said Committee is to hold the Provincial Council Elections expeditiously. He had also stated that a request has already been made to obtain the recommendations of the Attorney General's Department regarding the steps to be taken in this regard.
