Here is why -
The criminal case over the killing of a journalist Ko Par Gyi was closed by a court in Kyeikmaraw Township despite of the court’s earlier ruling that the journalist’s death was unnatural and he was shot by someone.
The court said in its order 5/2016 that the case is closed after it found the officials involved in the investigation made “mistake” in their investigation.
In a letter sent by the court to the freelance journalist’s wife Daw Thandar on 21 March said the case filed by Police Superintendent Khin Maung Aye and Deputy Superintendent Kyaw Kyaw Aung (on death of Ko Par Gyi) was investigated according to the law by the office of the Union Attorney General and Mon State prosecutor office but they found “mistakes” in earlier hearings by the court.
The murder case under criminal procedure 302 was registered on 25 June 2015 with the case number 4/2015 (P) 20/2015 and heard the case for nine months and now dismissed due to “mistake” by authorities.
