A statement issued by a pro-Buddhist group Ma Ba Tha, the Myanmar acronym for the Association of Protection of the Race and Religion- said in a statement issued on 24 October that the Bengali Rohingyas are committing rape and murders across the country. The statement from the Ma Ba Tha headquarters also said those who are involved in terrorists activities across the world are also religiously linked to Rohingyas. The statement said the country’s security and stability would be affected if more illegal immigrants come into Myanmar. It called on the government to follow the example of the other countries in tackling the issue of illegal immigrants. It said such a move would also help to contribute to safeguarding the global security and stability. The statement said all the people of Myanmar should cooperate with the government in this task by having nationalistic mindset.
