This report is Confirmed false and is of Medium Priority. Here is why -
Some members of the parliament from the National League for Democracy (NLD) comes under attack in online posts and publically with incorrect description of their religious belief. An online post claimed that a Muslim member of legislature in the Rakhine State parliament was a Muslim and his father is a Muslim clergyman and wife is a Muslim. U Win Naing, a MP in Rakhine Legislature and a head of the Thandwe district NLD is among those who were criticized. He said, “I am a Rakhine Buddhist, my wife is a Rakhine Muslim, we are living a normal life since we got married”. U Win Naing has been married to his Muslim wife since 1981. Due to pressure from the pro-Buddhist Race and Religion Protection Committee (MaBaTha), the two main political parties -Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and NLD- did not select Muslims as their candidate for 2015 general elections. After a landslide victory by NLD allegation based on the religion of the MPs have emerged. Most of the allegations were levelled against MPs in Rakhine State. An election complaint letter against a MP from Mang Aung in Rakhine State stated that he has four wives and one of whom is a Muslim.
