Here is why -
State Minister Channa Jayasumana tabled a list of around 35 medicine varieties in the Parliament on 21st September stating that those are the medicines the Yahapalana (Good Governance) government brought in paying exorbitant prices. Responding to the State Minister's allegation, MP Rajitha Senaratne, former Health Minister, stated that it is a blatant lie, and proceeded to compare the actual prices for which the medicines were purchased during the Yahapalana period with the prices of the current regime. These conflicting speeches by the two politicians make it impossible to arrive at a verdict as to the validity of this rumour, based on publicly available data.
