This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
A pro-Buddhist group the Association for the Protection of the Race and Religion, which is more widely known with its Myanmar acronym Ma Ba Tha has been preaching to Muslims to donate cash instead of slaughtering of cows during the Muslim feast of Eid-ul-Adha. They have prepared ahead of the feast on 13 September the complaints letter to be sent to the authorities to protest against the slaughter of animals. Due to the activities of Ma Ba Tha and its affiliate a Buddhist charity group, Ziwita Dhana, there were pressure on the Muslims by the authorities to abandon the celebration of the feast; some even face prosecution and jail sentence. According to Facebook, posts by Ma Ba Tha supporters a group of 30 monks and 50 laymen traveled in the Mandalay city on the eve of Eid festival to spread anti-Muslim messages. In Shwe Pyi Tha in the outskirt of Yangon, 92 animals to be sacrificed were confiscated by authorities due to pressure by the Ma Ba Tha and so-called nationalists. And three Muslims were arrested in connection with the matter and they were sent to the Insein jail. And 32 other Muslims were declared as absconders as they avoided the arrests. According to a letter sent by U Myo Myint and the two other arrested Muslims to their local MP, U Pe Chit, the three people were to be produced to the court on 10th October at 10:00 a.m. Also in Yemathein in central Myanmar, the authorities there have banned slaughter of cows during the Eid feast and in some places given permission only for a limited numbers. Muslims in the Ayeyarwady delta towns of Danyuphyu, Nga Putaw, Kyone Ma Ngae, Hinthata, Shwe Laung and Wakhema townships faced similar harassments by the authorities and the Ma Ba Tha supporters.
