Here is why -
Some private school in Mandalay are reportedly teaching their students poetries, which are aimed at spreading hate against mix-blooded people.
The poetries including the one with the title “Wun Tha Nu” spirit is being taught to the second grade students and it is included in their lessons on lifelong learning and high moral and character values. The teachers visit to a number of different schools to do teaching the poetries.
While in Yangon, “Wun Tha Nu” is included in the lifelong learning and high moral and character section in the textbook for the third and fourth graders, said a kindergarten student. However, other poetry criticizing the minority race and religions are not in the lesson in the schools in Yangon.
The “Wun Tha Nu” poetry said youths should be aware that their race would be disappeared if their religion were swallowed by the other religions.
A parent of a student said, it was inappropriate to teach racially discriminatory lessons to the youths while internationally, the schools are teaching youth on how to promote racial and religious tolerance.
