Such a series of protests did not occur on the 6th October 2021. On the 12th October, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa agreed to increase the teachers' salaries in three instalments, in two budget stages as a resolution. However, the teachers’ and principals’ trade unions announced on the 13th October that they have decided to continue the series of ongoing trade union actions including the strike, demanding a solution more acceptable to them.
