Nationalists conducting training Buddhist youths in a monastery near Yangon

A group known as All Myanmar Nationalist Brotherhood has conducted a combat training in a monastery in Thanlyin. They say the training was aimed to protect race and religion. The training is named as Security and Management training for Race and Religious protection and were conducted for three times recently, the first time was from 6 January to 7 February this year and second time during 6th to 10 of April. The third rounds of the training is due to begin on 7 May. The training is joined by boys and girls as well as novice and it included training on how to handle stick and sward. The trainers include a lawyer from Nationalist Network U Aye Paing and the subjects of training include how to protect race and religion, essential facts to understand about Muslims and legal matters. The actual aim of the training, which are conducted under the pretext of protection of race and religion, is to create misunderstanding on the history about non- Buddhist religions. The training are conducted to encourage youths to act as hooligans. The authorities are not making efforts to stop the training.
