9 February 2016 An 18-year old novice Daywina was found dead with his throat slashed in his monastery in Lashio. The incident was reported on the Facebook page of Naing Win Htun a.k.a Naung Taw Lay, who is a secretary of Myanmar National Network and he called to investigate “if the novice was killed by brutal Muslim Kalar”. The message which was posted without having any evident has attracted many other Facebook users to write their comments. Many of these comments says the novice was actually killed by Muslim. The anti-Muslim posts based on the incident were first posted around 7 p.m. on 8 February but by 11 a.m. on 9 February Naung Taw Lay retracted his post, after it was known that the novice had committed suicide. Even though the police has disclosed as soon as it found the body that the novice death was due to suicide but anti-Muslim elements deliberately used the incident to incite violence. But when they retracted the message they refrain from saying the fact that Muslim were not involved.
