This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
The Professor of the Sitagu International Buddhist University, Ashin Nyaniat Thara, said Islam is a threat to Myanmar, more dangerous than the threat posed by the Communism. He made the comment recently in a sermon delivered at the university’s branch in Taungoo. He said the monks should work together to prevent the danger of Islam inflicted on Myanmar. The sermon was delivered at a ceremony to this year’s Kathina religious festival, when people donate goods to the monks for their yearlong use. He said the monks should work in one voice and should not act according to affiliation of the monk groups “ be it Ma Ba Ta or Shwe Kyin or Thudama we have to give priority to prevent the threat from Islam and we should not support any wrong doings by them”. He added that Muslims will launch onslaught against Buddhists and the duty of the Buddhist was to defend. Ashin Nyaniat Thara has led Myanmar delegation at the international interfaith conferences many times. He once famously said there was no genocide of Muslims in Myanmar as the number of people killed during sectarian violence in Rakhine State was only 200.
