Here is why -
A nationalist monk U Wirathu wrote in a post on his Facebook page on 5 November that a separate prison would be needed to establish for the illegal Bengali immigrants.
The post said when the illegal immigrants from Rakhine State and Bangladesh were arrested and they are placed in the prison the prison authorities has no clue to where to send them after their release.
And he said that in the most of the cases they were allowed to stay back in Myanmar, which could harm the national security. He said that is why a separate prison for them would be needed.
U Wirathu was commenting on the news of 12 Rohingya were given 2 years rigorous imprisonment in Mawlamyine.
“If they cannot be sent back to their places of origin they could post serious threat to the national security, they should be jailed until someone came to receive them,” U Wirathu wrote in his social media post.
He said such a move could help to reduce the illegal immigrant problem in Rakhine State and the state will become more peaceful.
