Journalist Ko Swe Win asked for action against U Wirathu

The Editor-in-Chief of Myanmar News agency has written letters to the monk supervisory committee- the State Sanga Maha Nayaka Committee, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission to take legal actions against the ultra-nationalist monk U Wirathu. The legal adviser of Ko Swe Win said he called for the actions against the monk U Wisita Tharrabi Wuntha (a.k.a) U Wirathu because his activities are causing defame to the Buddhism also they are against the Constitution and causing conflict with the members of other religions. In the letter to the national human rights commission, Ko Swe Win said legal actions against U Wirthu is needed as he breaches the provisions related to the religious faith in 2008 Constitution. The copy of the letter would be send to the President Office and relevant government agencies. Ko Swe Win is facing two lawsuits filed against him by the followers of U Wirathu for his Facebook post in which he said U Wirathu would go to hell. He use Facebook with his account name Kyaw Myo Swe. The police in Mandalay Region 7 is conducting investigation against the journalist. Ko Swe Win is also facing charges of causing to defame the religion in Yangon filed by another follower of U Wirathu. Reference: The Standard Time, 29 March Volume 4 Number 1429
