This report is Confirmed true and is of High Priority. Here is why -
Phakhant- The authorities in Kachin State has gave ultimatum to the Muslim community in Lone Khin village in Phakhant Township to demolish a prayers hall by 30 June. In the past as well, the building used to accommodate preachers from the past 20 years and a warehouse inside the compound were demolished at pressure of local authorities. The Muslim community did not built the building. It was built inside the compound of Mosque at the time when a bridge linking Lone Khin and Lei Pyin was built to store cement. The local authorities are well aware of the fact. The local Muslim people have agreed to demolish the two buildings as they were in minority and also as they wanted to avoid conflict with the authorities and the local Buddhists. On 20 June, a group of people came to demolish the prayer hall. According to an eyewitness, the mob included the people who are not from the village and a number of monks. The prayer hall, which was asked to demolish by 30 June, has been existed in the same place from past more than 20 years. The State Government and the Religious Affairs Ministry so far has not intervened to resolve the dispute. Reference Source BHRN
